BlockTower Capital launches fund to invest in DeFi projects
BlockTower Capital, a crypto-asset investment company, has raised a $25 million fund for DeFi projects.
The fund will facilitate investments in a broader range of longer-term and more illiquid assets. Investors include venture capitalist Howard Morgan, British historian Niall Ferguson and Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Mark Lasry.
Why it matters: Decentralized approaches to financial use cases such as exchanges, lending and predictive markets are becoming increasingly popular as technology seeks to displace traditional intermediaries.
Between the lines: the new BlockTower fund will hold assets longer than some of its other instruments, giving it the ability to invest in a wider range of assets, including less liquid ones.
