Decentralized finance (DeFi) trading platform dYdX is now adapting users to a new version of its platform built on StarkWare Cairo software.

Perpetual cross-margin contracts are now available for early registration with zero gas fees thanks to a proprietary implementation of the Tier 2 solution. Previously, the exchange relied directly on the Ethereum core network, which has become more painful due to the ever-increasing cost of transaction fees.

dYdX lists BTC/USD and ETH/USD perpetual contracts, lending, spot and margin trading. The total locked-in value of the platform (TVL) is $250 million.

StarkWare's implementation relies on cryptographic innovations to increase speed by moving heavy computation off the grid. Open / Comment

Centrifuge, a blockchain startup focused on raising real-world assets in decentralized finance (DeFi), has received $4.3 million to further grow its business through a "secure future token agreement" (SAFT) round.

In the SAFT round, the company sells the rights to future tokens, which will not be released until a key goal, such as launching the platform, is achieved.

The startup intended to build a bridge between real assets and DeFi through an asset tokenization process known as Tinlake, a business that the company said could attract "trillions in value" from traditional finance.

The price of Ren (REN) surged 65% on Feb. 19 as the compatibility-focused protocol continued to accumulate in whale wallets containing more than 1 million RENs.

Cointelegraph data shows that REN rose from $0.99 on Feb. 18 to a new record high of $1.84 on Feb. 19. The move to a new high came as REN's trading volume also reached $704 million in the last 24 hours.

Competitive Decentralized Exchanges (DEX) are the whales in the world of open source software, as Ethereum-based competitor Uniswap catches up with project Uniswap in terms of volume and nominal liquidity.

PancakeSwap leads the ranking. The liquidity of Uniswap's automated market maker (AMM) clone on Binance's own blockchain, Binance Smart Chain (BSC), has grown by 1003% since the beginning of the year. According to CoinGecko, sales volumes have been a bit more impressive, up 2,800% from $37 million on Jan. 1 to $1.1 billion on Feb. 17.

According to official sources, StarkWare, a research and development organization specializing in zero-disclosure solutions, announced that a decentralized autonomous Badger DAO (BADGER) has been launched on its StarkNet Layer 2 solution.

StarkNet is a decentralized network for Ethereum scaling at layer 2 using ZK Rollups, managed by STARK, which can support shared Ethereum computation. The basic design (stage 0) is complete, namely the full Turing Cairo structure, the STARK software stack, and the Layer 2 StarkEx extension mechanism, which will allow deployment from stage one to stage three without the need for a fork. Chinese blockchain network Nervos announced a $5 million fund to support projects for decentralized exchanges, credit platforms and other DeFi protocols.

Nervos is positioning the fund as a response to the "negative reaction and controversy" regarding the centralized financial sector. In recent weeks, as a result of pressure from retailers to support the stock of struggling game seller GameStop, Robinhood and other major trading platforms have suspended stock trading.

Nervos also called attention to "outdated" systems underlying existing trading systems, such as centralized management and inefficient settlement processes.
