Hackers gained access to personal data of Hotbit crypto exchange clients Hotbit cryptocurrency exchange has suspended operations after a hacking attempt. The site's website says that the attackers carried out a large-scale cyberattack in order to gain access to the wallets of the exchange, but they failed.
The attacks on the service began at 20:00 Kiev time on April 29. After the attackers were unable to gain access to the exchange's funds, they deleted the database of its users. Hotbit said the data will be restored thanks to backups.
Representatives of the exchange warned users that their personal data (phone number, email, information about assets) could be stolen. The message emphasizes that user passwords, thanks to the encryption system, were not affected by the leak, but they should still be changed, especially for those who use the same password as on Hotbit on other sites.
