Fidelity Investments, one of the world's largest financial services firms, has revealed that it has bought a 7.4% stake in Marathon Digital Holdings, a North American mining company.
Marathon currently has 19000 miners in operation but is focussed on expanding. Other companies that have stakes in the company include Vanguard Group and Blackrock.
The 7.4% stake was purchased for $20M, and the shares will be distributed across four of Fidelity's index-based funds, including their Fidelity Total Market Index Fund and Fidelity Nasdaq Composition Index Fund.
