Due to the recent failures and flaws of the traditional banking system, Bitcoin’s potential to foster a more secure global economy may have come to light in a new way.

River, a Bitcoin technology and financial services startup, has completed a $35 million Series B funding round. This follows after its $12 million Series A round in 2021.

The new round was led by Kingsway Capital and also saw participation from contributors such as Alarko Ventures, Valor Equity Partners, Goldcrest, Cygni, and M13 among others.

Billionaire investor Peter Thiel also backed the investment round as River continues to aim at creating a robust financial system with Bitcoin.

The NFT boom of yesteryear caused an explosion of intellectual property creation, with the most resilient products enduring despite the market’s volatility. One of the most successful examples is Doodles, a project that began as a 10,000 profile picture collection of vibrant cartoon portraits.

The Web3 company is now looking at moving beyond the market hype of the past, shifting its focus to building its intellectual property, or IP, outward and connecting the tightly-knit NFT community to the mainstream.

CEO at Doodles and former president of Billboard, Julian Holguin spoke to Blockworks about what the company is building on the Empire podcast.

When the project began, Holguin says, it stood out because of the new strategies it implemented, like gating Discord channels for token holders and structuring itself as a DAO — relatively novel concepts at the time. “The Doodle Bank was established and anybody that owned a Doodle got a chance to actually vote on how the funds and the bank were used.”

Bitmain, the mining rig manufacturer, has announced the launch of a new rig that mines the digital currency fileconn (FILE). Similar to the company’s KAS Miner KS3, the new FIL miner carries a hefty price tag of $38,888 per machine.

In the announcement on Thursday, Bitmain stated that the on-rack file coinminer will be sold throughout the day on Friday for $38,888 per unit. Bitmain detailed that the machine offers 4,300T per unit and claims miners will begin earning immediately. While $38,888 is a high price for Bitmain ASIC rigs, it’s not the most expensive.

The company previously sold a GAS Miner KS3 with a hashrate of 8,300G for $49,800, although the machine is currently sold out.
