Sky Mavis, the developer behind Axie Infinity, has announced an upgrade to the Ronin blockchain, which powers the game, making it more decentralised and less vulnerable to attacks. Ronin will transition to a delegated proof-of-stake mechanism and users will be able to stake RON tokens to participate in validator selection. Additionally, Sky Mavis has partnered with game development studios to build out the Axie universe and expand Ronin to new blockchain-based video games. The upgrade comes a year after the Ronin network hack, which resulted in the loss of $625m.
