RealX blockchain-based platform allows Indian investors to buy and sell “direct deeded co-ownership” of holiday properties.

A fintech firm from Pune, India has launched a blockchain-based registry system named RealX that allows Indian citizens to purchase fractional ownership in properties.

A report from The Economic Times states that RealX has partnered with Tripvillas, a holiday home rental service, to blend ownership of holiday properties in accordance with usage and yield. Tripvillas will also be responsible for managing the basket of holiday properties intended for co-investment.

According to RealX chief operating officer and co-founder Neera Inamdar, the COVID-19 pandemic was a key driver for the platform’s launch, as the real estate market’s instability concerned both property developers and investors. Citing the return of a comparatively stable market, she said:

“We offer ‘direct deeded property co-ownership’ and it is in the best interest of investors to become direct co-owners of the property.”

Roshan Lionel Dsilva, founder and CEO of Tripvillas, said that the RealX platform will soon allow Indian investors to co-own international properties on the platform to incentivize dollar-denominated income.

While Indian regulators’ stance on crypto adoption is still unclear, the country continues to experiment with blockchain technology in non-financial niches.

Recently, the government of Maharashtra implemented a credentialing system for providing tamper-proof diploma certificates using the Ethereum blockchain. In partnership with blockchain startup LegitDoc, the Maharashtra State Board of Skill Development has started issuing digitally verifiable certificates.

LegitDoc is also in talks with a few other educational institutions in India that intend to implement a similar solution for countering the ongoing forgery of documents. Open / Comment

The Criminal Investigation Bureau has charged the suspects with fraud, money laundering and breaches of the Organized Crime Prevention Act.

Taiwan’s police administration has reportedly arrested 14 people for running a $5.41-million (150 million New Taiwan dollars) investment scam over the past year, involving more than 100 cryptocurrency investors.

CIB investigator Kuo Yu-chih said that the scam was led by a local businessman named Chen, who ran the operation on social media platforms. Chen was also reportedly running Azure Crypto Co, a Taipei-based platform that offered various investment services, including cryptocurrency transactions. He explained:

“Chen and his staff set up Web sites, and allegedly used photographs of pretty women to attract mainly male victims, many of whom were in retirement with substantial savings.”

According to the report shared by Taipei Times, the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) has charged the suspects with fraud, money laundering and breaches of the Organized Crime Prevention Act.

According to Kuo, Chen and his team of scammers promised high returns on cryptocurrencies such as Ether (ETH), Tron (TRX) and Tether (USDT) while presenting themselves as financial advisers specializing in crypto mining.

The CIB started monitoring the firm’s activities after receiving complaints from one of the victims who had invested nearly $1.5 million (over 29 million New Taiwan dollars). After several months of investigation, the CIB raided the company office as well as the residences of Chen and his associates.

Citing the growing number of scams across the world, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission published a new investor alert related to investment scams.

The SEC said that the main reason for scams and exploits is due to the crypto ecosystem’s “rising popularity.” Acknowledging investors’ sentiment behind the fear of missing out, the SEC has advised investors to weigh the risks and be on the lookout for a possible scam before investing. The series follows the exploits of a team of creatures attempting to get startup projects off the ground and will feature 1inch as a plot point in the first season.

Decentralized exchange aggregator 1inch has partnered with an animated series that pokes fun at startups in a Silicon Valley-like setting.

In a Friday announcement, 1inch said it would be sponsoring the nonfungible token, or NFT, series Take My Muffin in addition to providing its technical expertise for the show and introducing team members to projects in the decentralized finance, or DeFi, space. The series follows the exploits of a team of creatures who attempt to get startup projects off the ground — with general wackiness and blockchain-based solutions aplenty — and is scheduled to be released in the first half of 2022.

“A partnership of this kind comes as no surprise,” sai 1inch co-founder Anton Bukov. “Take My Muffin was financed by the crypto community from the very beginning. It’s actually the very first crypto-funded animated series.”

According to 1inch chief communications officer Sergey Maslennikov, Take My Muffin plans to integrate the exchange into the show’s plot, starting from the first episode. As a sponsor, the project will also help with merchandise and events for the series.

He added: "This partnership should help 1inch reach a broader general audience. Of course, it’s fun — and DeFi segment should try to save this mood instead of turning into another traditional and boring banking-alike industry."

Many crypto users have shown interest in the NFT animated series in recent months. Despite having a false start in July, 10,420 Stoner Cats NFTs — which granted holders access to the animated series — sold out in under an hour. Presearch is backed by a community of node operators who process user search requests and earn rewards through the Ethereum-based PRE token.

Beginning Sept. 1, decentralized search engine Presearch will be listed as a default option on all new and factory-reset devices sold in the United Kingdom and Europe, a move that could erode Google’s dominance in the search engine market.

The decision by Google to list Presearch as a default browser option follows a protracted legal battle with the European Commission over accusations that the technology company used Android to solidify its search engine dominance. In 2018, the European Commission’s antitrust regulator fined Google a record 4.24 billion euros for unfairly limiting competition on smartphone operating systems. In 2019, Google said it will allow search engine rivals to compete for free on Android devices.

Presearch’s private, decentralized search engine option will now be listed on Android devices alongside several other eligible search engines across Europe. Although the search engines will be listed randomly, Presearch may appear differently depending on the user’s location. Regardless of location or device, Presearch can be accessed on desktop or smartphone by downloading the app via Google Play or the App Store.

Presearch processes more than 1 million searches per day across more than 2.3 million registered users. The company said daily searches have increased more than 300% since January 2021. All search engine requests are processed by Presearch node operators, who earn rewards through Ethereum-based PRE tokens.

PRE tokens are listed on CoinMarketCap and currently trade for less than 5 cents. The project has a total market capitalization of nearly $17 million.

Although Google remains the de facto leader in the global search engine market, several competitors have attempted to erode its dominance. Brave, a crypto-powered web browser, recently launched a new privacy-protecting beta search engine to provide users with an alternative to Google’s personal data harvesting. Open / Comment
