Serenity Shield Token Falls Victim to Hack: $5.6 Million Worth SERSH Stolen In a shocking turn of events, the
Serenity Shield project was hit by a
hack that resulted in the loss of a staggering $5.6 million worth of
SERSH tokens.
The breach occurred when the project's
MetaMask wallet was compromised, leaving the team scrambling to respond. They swiftly assured their community that they were taking immediate action to address the situation.
Pseudonymous blockchain investigator
ZachXBT shed light on the incident, revealing that the theft took place on Serenity's wallet on BSC. Interestingly, this breach seems to be connected to other recent hacks in the crypto space.
As a precautionary measure, Serenity Shield has urged users to
halt all SERSH trading on PancakeSwap and suspended CEX trading on Gateio and MEXC.
The hack occurred at 9:11 am UTC on Feb. 27,
with the stolen tokens swiftly making their way to an unidentified third-party wallet.
Unsurprisingly,
some users expressed their disappointment and concern over the project's choice to store tokens in a MetaMask hot wallet, calling it a blow to the coin's reputation.
