Crypto speak: BTFD
When crypto markets decrease in value—even modestly—people will start barking “BTFD,” which stands for “buy the f*cking dip.”
This acronym describes an investment strategy of buying a cryptocurrency or digital asset when its price sharply depreciates and expecting it will gain value shortly afterward. In other words, when prices go down significantly, this is called the dip: the moment when people say “BTFD.”
This strategy often goes hand in hand with “hodling” since crypto prices can suffer such intense corrections that their recovery may take longer than expected (see our post on “crypto winter”).
