NFT-crazed celebs pump $87m into MoonPay

Dozens of famous faces, including Bruce Willis, Drake and Paris Hilton, have invested in MoonPay, buying into the crypto payments platform's promise of helping celebs reap the benefits of Web3.

More than 60 high-profile investors have invested a total of $87 million as part of MoonPay's previously announced $555 million Series A round, which values the company at $3.4 billion.

The governments of Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Republic of Congo (Congo-Brazzaville) have all announced intentions to adopt cryptocurrency and blockchain-based solutions to drive economic progress.

Africa has one of the highest crypto adoption rates globally. This trend could continue if new developments in Central Africa scale through the development phase to a successful launch.

The countries mentioned that they are in discussions with The Open Network (TON) to help lunch their first crypto initiatives.

According to a source close to the matter, the plan for each of the Central African countries is to launch localized stablecoins on the TON blockchain.

Global payment facilitator Mastercard International Inc. (NYSE: MA) is moving into the metaverse as it looks to become a major player in the virtual economy.

Mastercard has submitted fifteen new trademark applications to register Mastercard, its “Circles” logo, and the “Priceless” slogan, according to a tweet sent out on April 8 by non-fungible tokens (NFT) and metaverse trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis.

A range of virtual, crypto, and financial products and services will be covered by patents filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on April 4, 2022.

Zara launches NFT series for new clothing collection

The Spanish retailer is launching a new line of Lime Glam clothing and accessories that can be worn on avatars and in the Zepeto multiverse.

Various items of clothing and accessories have become more and more popular in the metaverse lately, Zara states. By purchasing an accessory or piece of clothing in a real store, the customer gets access to a digital version of it. The number of NFTs, Zara warns, will be limited.
