Fidelity Investments, a major financial services firm with $11.3 trillion in assets under administration, has entered the metaverse with the opening of an eight-story learning center and the launch of a metaverse exchange-traded fund.

Fidelity Investments announced Thursday the grand opening of "The Fidelity Stack," which the brokerage firm described as its "First immersive metaverse experience aimed at offering a new way to learn investing basics." Fidelity is one of the largest financial services firms; it currently has $11.3 trillion in assets under administration.The Fidelity Stack is an eight-story building in the metaverse where visitors can learn about different ways of investing.

NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are unique, irreplaceable, mostly digital items that users buy and sell online.NFTs use blockchain technology to keep a digital record of ownership, similar to cryptocurrencies. They were first launched on ethereum, the same blockchain that supports the cryptocurrency ether, and most NFTs can still only be purchased using ether.

The freshly launched Ethereum-based “Moonbirds” nonfungible token (NFT) project is soaring to the top of the trade volume charts after generating $290 million worth of sales in just four days.

There are 10,000 computer-generated pixel owl avatar NFTs in total, which were promptly sold out on Saturday for a mint price of 2.5 Ether (ETH) per NFT, or $7,700 at the time of writing. The floor price, or minimum average sale, has since exploded on secondary markets, with OpenSea currently showing a hefty sum of 18.45 ETH, or $56,800 at the time of writing.

The UAE airliner Emirates has said it will soon launch non-fungible tokens (NFT) and “exciting experiences in the metaverse” for its clientele as well as its workers. According to the airliner, the move aligns with advances in the UAE’s digital economy as well as with the country’s virtual assets related initiatives. In a recently released statement, the airliner suggested that work on the firsts projects is already underway with the “launch anticipated in the coming months.”
