The story of how exciting it is to get rid of $3 million!
To begin with, in the 1970s, director Alejandro Chodorovsky wanted to make a grandiose film adaptation of Dune. Yes, yes, that one. Frank Herbert. And this was long before David Lynch and Denis Villeneuve's Dune.
In an effort to sell the film to Hollywood studios, Chodorovsky printed 20 volumes detailing the script, costume design, visuals and storyboards. They were called The Director's Bible.
As conceived by Chodorovsky, the music for his film should have been written by the legendary Pink Floyd, the design was responsible for the author of the film "Alien" - Hans Rudy Giger, and the main roles were going to play Orson Welles, Salvador Dali, Mick Jagger.
The scale was staggering!
But something went wrong and the studio withdrew its sponsorship. The film was never made and the story "fell off the radar" until 2021. But three months ago, one of Hodorowski's volumes went up for auction. Appraisers predicted they would sell it for $30,000. But they were dead wrong. The book went under the hammer for 100 times that amount!
The book was purchased by 25-year-old NFT collector Soban Saqib of California. And he paid $2.9 million for the lot. The guy planned that the book would become public, and the author's animated series would be made based on its contents. It was going to be sold to a streaming service.
Only our hero was not too careful - buying a physical copy of the book is not buying the copyright...
Bottom line: Right now the whole internet is giggling at the "thoughtful" buyer. The pages of the $3 million book are available on the Internet for free. That's how digital Robin Hood gave everyone a $3 million infomercial.
But in our blockchain, a similar story won't happen. Because
Pure NFT - literally proves your copyright!
