2022-06-14 22:57:47 Celsius in trouble?

Alameda, one of the longest and largest holders of Lido’s stETH, recently redeemed 30,000 stETH for ETH causing the stETH peg to fall 4-5% and putting Celsius Network in trouble. The redemption caused Celsius to be possibly insolvent in their ETH position as they appear to be running out of liquid funds as investors redeem their positions on the platform. For perspective, 27% of Celsius’ ETH is liquid and the rest is either stETH or staked ETH2. This is on top of a $70 million loss that occurred during an exploit of Stakehound where Celsius lost keys to 35k ETH tokens, and Terra becoming depegged of which Celsius had millions of customers.

On Sunday Celsius announced that they will halt withdrawals, swaps, and transfers of assets due to what they claim were extreme market conditions.

Yesterday Celsius Network’s position in Maker protocol faced liquidation. This was the largest individual debt position on the protocol. They were saved by moving various sums of money

Yesterday, following an announcement that they will no longer support deposits and withdrawals of lite coin using MWEB, Binance ALSO announced a TEMPORARY suspension of BTC withdrawals. This suspension was due to a stuck on chain transaction on BTC network. The large exchange advised people use BEP20 or ERC 20 networks for withdrawals. Open / Comment

Xtrades, a community of stock and option traders brought together to learn and grow portfolios, has been compromised. Xtrades is currently advising all of it’s users to not click any links or purchase crypto promoted on their server and is asking people to join the discord found on their twitter for more information. The attack to Xtrades server was a 2FA hack, which allowed the attackers admin account access. Open / Comment

Ropsten is Ethereum’s oldest testnet it allows for blockchain development testing before deployment on the mainnet. Software teams participating in the merge are but are not limited to: Lighthouse, Lodestar, Prysm, Nimbus, Teku, Besu, Erigon, go-ethereum (geth) and Nethermind.

Coinbase has not only begun layoffs but it also has begun pulling existing job offers. The company is not alone in what has appeared to be a series of crypto centric lay offs. Other companies such as Gemini have cut 10% of its staff, Robinhood cut 9%, and Mexican exchange Bitso and Middle Eastern exchange Rain Financial have both made cuts to staff.

Following the path of other crypto giants, Elon Musk has been reported to have sent an email to Tesla employees announcing a need for a 10% employee cut. This announcement may not be crypto related per se but followed Tesla shares tumbling 7% after investors became impatient. Making it a total of a 35% drop from where it was on the day Musk announced his Twitter deal.Elon took out extensive personal loans following said deal and put up 50% of his Tesla shares as collateral.
