BTC literally ToTheMoons!

BitMEX, a Bitcoin derivatives exchange, has unveiled plans to send the first physical Bitcoin to the Moon (I mean real Moon) in collaboration with Astrobotic Technology Inc. and Bitcoin Magazine.

The rocket carrying the physical Bitcoin wallet will be launched from the Kennedy Space Center this summer, representing an important first for both space exploration and the bitcoin industry.

The cargo will contain a public address and a private key for 1 BTC and will become the first financial asset ever sent to space.

Talks stall as White House shows no movement, McCarthy says

Debt-limit negotiations hit an impasse Friday as House Speaker Kevin McCarthy blamed the White House for resisting spending cuts, casting doubt on efforts in Washington to avert a catastrophic default.

McCarthy spoke shortly after abruptly ending talks with White House officials, a reversal from the Republican leader's optimistic view that an deal could be reached as soon as the weekend.

"We've got to get movement by the White House and we don't have any movement," McCarthy said. "So yeah, we've got to pause."

McCarthy noted that he hasn't spoken to Biden in the talks, but it's clear that "we can't be spending more money next year."

"Look, they're just unreasonable," Republican negotiator Representative Garret Graves said, moments after he walked out of the session.

Meanwhile, the White House said that both sides in the debt negotiations "won't get everything," hinting at a possible compromise.

Yet it appears that Republicans intend to stand their ground.

US sanctions 71 companies from Russia, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan

The US Department of Commerce has imposed sanctions against 71 legal entities for supporting Russia, Reuters reported.

The restrictions affected 69 Russian companies, as well as one from Armenia, which supplies chemical products, and one from Kyrgyzstan, which supplies electronic components.

The sanctions against Russia target the country's military-industrial complex, as well as gas and oil projects in Russia and Belarus. The restrictions expand export controls on these two countries, according to the publication.

Additionally, the US has expanded export restrictions against Russia, prohibiting the import of a number of telephones, voice recorders, microphones, and home appliances into the country.

The list already includes more than 1,200 items, including construction materials, paints, paper, fabrics and vehicles.

The Russian Foreign Ministry responded to the new US sanctions by banning 500 Americans from entering the country. Barack Obama is among them.

Poland demands $1,5 billion from Gazprom

EuroPol Gaz, which owns Polish section of the Yamal-Europe pipeline, has filed a lawsuit against Russia's Gazprom, demanding a COMPENSATION for their lost profit because of halted transit, Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin told the Polish broadcaster TVP Info.

You know WHY it was halted? Because Poland denied and banned Russian gas.

So, it seems that Polish guys have invented a new way to earn money – now learn:
1. Sanction your partner and halt the trade...
2. ???
3. PROFIT!
4. Now just angrily ask for money.

Asking for money looks especially good amidst your close ally denying you reparations for 70+ years of war, which actually have already been paid.

Perhaps such inadequate demands have something to do with the radioactive cloud over Poland that formed after Russia blasted the stockpile of depleted uranium shells shipped in from the West.

This radioactive cloud keeps moving towards Europe by the way.

When the SWIFT is off, Vlad is still delivering.

US debt ceiling talks collapse

Another round of negotiations between US House Republicans and Democratic President Joe Biden's administration to raise the federal government's $31.4 trillion debt ceiling has collapsed and been paused, US media reported Friday, citing a leading Republican negotiator.

"We're not there," multiple US media outlets quoted Representative Garret Graves, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's designated lead negotiator in talks, as saying. "We've decided to press pause because it's just not productive."

The Treasury Department has warned that the federal government could run out of money to pay its debts as soon as soon as June 1, potentially triggering a catastrophic default.

Biden was in Japan attending a meeting of the Group of Seven wealthy nations. Republicans have criticized his decision to go forward with his trip at a sensitive time in the talks.

The Republicans were apparently overly optimistic when they claimed to be able to reach an agreement by the end of this week. Now we are less than two weeks away from the fateful X-date.

Warning: US default is closer than it appears.

Chinese universities adopting digital yuan

Universities in China have begun adopting the digital yuan and are looking for ways to allow students to use the nation's central bank digital currency (CBDC) in "every" aspect of their campus life, one of the tech firms told Chinese media outlet Stockstar.

Zhejiang Zhengyuan Zhihui Technology said it has deployed its digital yuan payment solutions "in many universities" in the pilot zone.

Among them is China's most prestigious Soochow University (Suzhou). The company said that "all" of Soochow University's campus buildings had been updated to process digital yuan payments.

The company added that Soochow University has become "first full-scenario digital yuan university in China." This means that students can pay for rides on university-run transport, as well as use their CBDC wallets as a kind of ID to pass through automatic turnstiles and register their attendance at classes.

The company also said the digital yuan wallet solution is also being used at "enterprises," where they could replace employee smartcards.

Universities in China often have small, relatively closed economic ecosystems and so they were often used during the pilot to experiment with new digital yuan payment options.

Global crisis led to just 1% pay drop for CEOs

About two-thirds of top executives at S&P 500 companies experienced smaller pay packages in 2022 compared to what they were initially awarded, at least on paper, according to data analyzed by the Wall Street Journal using MyLogIQ.

Still, 140 CEOs earned more than expected, while 46 executives ended the year with at least twice what their boards had originally projected.

Overall, the median pay package for S&P 500 CEOs declined to $14.5 million in 2022 from a record high of $14.7 million the previous year.

This 1% decline represents the first time in a decade that compensation for top executives at major US companies did not reach new highs.

Sundar Pichai, chief of Alphabet, claimed the top spot with a pay package valued at about $226 million.

Michael Rapino, CEO of Live Nation Entertainment, came in second place with a total compensation of $139 million, managing to overtake Apple CEO Tim Cook.

Notably, even though Cook agreed to cut his salary by 40% at the end of 2022, he was still in the top three CEOs with the highest pay with $99 million in compensation.
