​After a community vote among validators, the “t.me” domain was added to the root TON DNS smart contract.

This news means that “t.me” owners now have the following opportunities:

You can assign the username.t.me format to your TON crypto wallet, allowing users to send Toncoin to your Telegram username.

Product creators can assign smart contracts to Telegram usernames. They can also assign usernames to decentralized TON sites.

Moreover, you can store your username in your crypto wallet, sell it, and even put it up for auction, but your ownership rights to your “t.me” will always be recorded on the blockchain.

In other words, “t.me” owners have received access to all the possibilities offered by TON DNS technologies.

Last week, the TON Foundation proposed to add “t.me” domains to the root TON DNS smart contract.

After a round of voting among community validators from Oct. 31 to Nov. 1, the TON Foundation’s initiative was approved.

All amendments have already been implemented.
