The Testnet is close!

The Cherry engineers are in the final stages of building the Cherry Node, readying for launch shortly

Some last minute GitHub cleanup is also being performed so users can get started with the testnet easily

Users are free to do with their node as they please. Play with it, and try to break it. It will be our pleasure to review your experiments. We suggest running the node on at least 4GB RAM, 2 CPUs, and 40GB SSD, preferably with a recent Debian-based Linux distribution. Exact specifications will be released as we optimize and remove debugging and telemetry elements.

We do not expect any incentives for network participants for the next 2 weeks. We will, however, be establishing a bug bounty system rewarding bug disclosures, and an improvement suggestion option accessible even to more layman users.

A Medium post will follow tomorrow with more details

Part 2 of 3
Upon installation, users will have the option to deploy an IPFS server of their own to start servicing the infrastructure's trustless data storage needs.

All users will also receive 5 testnet-Cherry Tokens (tCHER) upon creating their blockchain account. These will be used to pay transaction fees, and, more specifically, to upload files to the data store. If you run out of tCHER you can request topups from admins. A faucet will also be released shortly.

For the first week we expect the network to be very unstable. During this period we will grow the number of peers and store providers, and apply some fixes to issues that would naturally emerge in our code's first release to the wild. Once the network has reached a significant structure we will proceed with the subsequent release steps. We plan on making the development iteration as transparent as possible. (contd. below)

Part 1 of 3
Tomorrow at around 2pm UTC
we plan to release our code and network to the public. Documentation on what exactly to do with it will follow shortly thereafter as we assemble tutorials, knowledge bases, and factor in inputs from the earlier, more technical adopters. A testnet discussion chat shall be opened on Discord to facilitate dialogue, support, and bug notices.

In the upcoming release, users can expect to have a fairly complete overview of Cherry's most fundamental components, and to be able to access them with ease through a purpose-built user interface (that is functional but which will be improved a lot over the next few weeks). Other, less salient elements will be released later on as the network stabilizes.

Anyone will be able to deploy the code on their Linux machine (initially, other OSs soon) with an easy-to-use bash script that will take care of all the required dependencies. The node will automatically connect with Cherry's network.

Warning guys, this is a fake account run by a scammer. The Cherry team will never message you out of the blue. If you are ever in doubt, just check that the person you're speaking to has "Admin" in their name in the main Cherry group chat. Stay safe and peace guys
