Spanish lender CaixaBank is leading the way among European banks in its innovative use of the metaverse. And now it is bringing together its use of virtual reality to promote two other core priorities for the bank. Visitors to the branches between 20 and 27 April will be able to participate in a virtual reality experience that will help them to become aware of how to contribute to creating a cleaner and more sustainable world.

The activity will consist of a virtual tour in which participants will have to overcome a series of challenges in different natural environments. Participating customers will virtually enter forests, beaches, and even the bottom of the sea, to solve missions that will help them raise awareness about the need to care for the environment. In order to participate, customers must register in advance through digital channels or at the ‘all in one’ centers themselves. Through virtual reality, the entity will raise awareness in a fun and didactic way about how to contribute to creating a cleaner and more sustainable world.

Pussy Riot is setting up shop in the metaverse. On Wednesday, during NFT NYC, online virtual social networking site IMVU and Pussy Riot founding member Nadya Tolokonnikova announced the launch of a Web3 community space called Utopia. Founded in 2004, IMVU is a 3-D virtual world and social network platform where users can create personalized avatars, explore various virtual destinations, and interact with others via chat and events.

No stranger to enlisting Web3 to support important causes, Tolokonnikova was a founding member of Ukraine DAO, which raised money for people affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and Unicorn DAO to support women and LGBTQ+ artists. Similarly, Utopia delivers a virtual "Pink Church" to foster gender equality, activism, and social justice while promoting connection, self-expression, and creativity. IMVU says four exclusive NFT drops are planned for Utopia, with the first collection dropping on April 14. Owners of the digital collectible will be able to use them with their IMVU avatars. A portion of the proceeds of the sale of the collectibles will be donated to North Caucasus SOS.

A filing from the U.S. Office of Government Ethics shows that former president Donald Trump has made anywhere from $100,001 to $1 million from sales of Trump-branded non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The filings were first reported by ethics watchdog Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW). The 45,000 digital collectibles featuring the 45th president's likeness were released in December and sold out within a day.

According to the filing, submitted on Friday, Trump holds the position of "manager, president, secretary and treasurer" at CIC Digital LLC and CIC Ventures LLC. On the official Trump Trading Cards website, it says that CIC Digital LLC allowed NFT INT LLC, the company behind the NFT project, to use Trump's likeness, name and image under a paid licensing agreement. The filing lists income from CIC Digital LLC as "NFTs" that raked in between $100,001 to $1 million. It also states that CIC Ventures LLC received over $5 million from speaking engagements.

The use of artificial intelligence, or AI, may speed up the pace at which original work is created in the metaverse, said Sebastian Borget, co-founder of The Sandbox and a speaker at Consensus 2023. “What used to take days before, from ideation and conception, can now take just a matter of seconds,” Borget told CoinDesk TV’s “First Mover” on Thursday. AI will “accelerate and empower even more creators,” he said.

The Sandbox, a culture and entertainment platform, is a user-generated and virtual gaming tool where users can build, own and sell their gaming experiences. The Hong Kong-based platform’s Game Client was installed over 1.3 million times last year, and has a digital presence in countries including Japan, China, Dubai and Saudi Arabia, Borget said. AI has garnered widespread attention. Some of its use cases, including ChatGPT’s text generator, have been met with warm and not so warm reactions. In March, for example, Neal Stephenson, author of “Snow Crash,” a science-fiction classic novel where he coined the term “metaverse,”.

The Web3 space has seen its fair share of exploits in the recent past, with more than $320 million exploited by hackers in the first quarter of 2023. For many users, particularly prospective users, securing their digital assets is a top priority. A new nonfungible token (NFTs) warranty service from Web3 payment provider Wert and insurtech service Avata is trying to troubleshoot the asset security gap for both active and prospective collectors.

According to the announcement, the opt-in warranty for NFTs will cover up to 90% of the value of the digital assets for any NFTs compromised in a smart contract hack. Cointelegraph spoke with George Basiladze, the co-founder and CEO of Wert, who said a solution like this helps bridge the “trust” gap, while offering needed protection to an array of collectors. The service will be available on nearly 80 digital asset marketplaces, including the KnownOrigin NFT marketplace. According to Basiladze, the NFT protection will be charged at 6% of the asset cost at checkout, and coverage will be calculated by the purchase price rather than the current market value.

Having lost its title as the world’s most popular NFT marketplace to Blur in February, Opensea has launched a major counteroffensive. When using the relaunched aggregator, users are able to browse listings from over 170 NFT marketplaces, including OpenSea. It also equips them with aggregated cross-market data and a suite of tools. Designed to help collectors and traders optimize how they buy and sell NFTs.

Significantly for OpenSea, the recent relaunch appears to have been well received by the community. Two key metrics of platform use — daily active users and new wallets created — spiked significantly throughout the week. From a 54.8% share of all NFT aggregator users on Monday, by Saturday, Blur’s share had declined to 27.%.
