We found the near perfect entry point into the USD. While most investors were selling the USD in pre-market US trading, we expected a rally and positioned against the market as we often do. We expected tapering NOT to be fully priced in (especially after other central banks, most notably the ECB and RBA positioned dovishly recently). Our CHF/JPY also rallied massively as the JPY additionally weakened after a rebound yesterday. We are tightening our SLs.

SELL NOW EUR/NZD

ECB President Christine Lagarde renewed her pushback against market bets for an interest-rate increase in 2022 after her attempt during last week's press conference left investors unimpressed. In a speech in Lisbon, not even an hour ago, she once again said that the ECB acknowledges the inflation surge but that the outlook for inflation over the medium term remains subdued. She went even a step further saying that current market expectations for a rate hike are inconsistent with the ECB’s own analysis and forward guidance. We trade the EUR against the NZD which sees support from a strong performance of stock markets, a hawkish RNBZ, strong and better-than-expected New Zealand employment data and New Zealand joining the world's largest trade deal (The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership or RCEP) that comes into force in January 2022. The Kiwi was slightly pressured down by a weak AUD but will likely continue to be strong (and outperform the AUD) with the RNBZ potentially even announcing another rate hike later this month.

Try to get in as HIGH as possible.

WTI (USOIL)
TP @: 83.97
SL @: 82.87

Oil priced started a strong rebound at the end of the previous week which extended in Asian trading today. WTI pushed back above $84 / barrel (December contract) exactly as we expected, while most analysts saw oil heavily overbought (and lost badly on their OIL shorts). OPEC+ is expected to stick to gradual, monthly production increases of 400,000 barrels per day (bpd), despite calls for more oil from major consumers. Also our Chevron position from Friday is trading strongly in pre-market US trading. Our oil positions are very deep in profit.

We traded the movements in the forex markets perfectly today. Investors were heavily pushing back into the euro, after they took ECB President Christine Lagarde's statement(s) as less dovish than expected. Higher than expected Eurozone inflation numbers made them believe even more that the ECB will face "enough" pressure to soon tighten monetary policy. We saw it exactly the other way around and could have not been more right. The EUR/USD crashed all the way from a two-months high back below 1.16000. What a crash. What a trade. We also update our USD/JPY and NZD/CHF. The USD strengthened significantly again today (as we expected) after losing against the currency basket yesterday.

SELL NOW NZD/CHF

We SHORT the NZD/CHF after mixed earnings provided headwinds to the recent risk-on mood that pushed Wall Street to new record highs and pushed the NZD back to multi-year highs against some of its peers. l see US stocks with further gains for Q4 but the rally taking a break today. The Kiwi saw additional pressure amid a slide in consumer confidence (in NZ). The CHF is today's top performing major currency and continues to benefit from rising concerns about the ongoing economic growth amid rising COVID cases in large parts of the world. Eastern Europe wrestles with virus spikes with Russia, Ukraine and Bulgaria reporting record COVID related deaths and infection numbers. Estonia is considering to impose a nation lockdown, neighboring Latvia started another strict lockdown already on October 21 which is planned to run until November 15.

Tip: Multiply your usual lot size by ~ 1.25 - 1.50 (125% - 150%) trading NZD/CHF.

(PREMIUM ONLY) EUR/USD

The euro was propelled during during yesterday's European trading after comments by ECB President Christine Lagarde were interpreted by some as not going far enough in affirming the central bank’s dovish stance. Lagarde said that the ECB expects inflation to be higher for longer, prompting traders to bet on the central bank being quicker in tightening its accommodative monetary policy. Eurozone government bond yields posted their biggest one-day rise of the year in response helping the EUR to gain ground against the USD. Also Eurozone inflation (preliminary) numbers came in higher than the ECB's target rate at 4.1% y/y (vs. 3.7% expected) or 2.1% core inflation y/y (vs. 1.9% expected) underlying Lagarde's statement for inflation to higher for longer. BUY NOW Dow Jones (US30)

We buy yesterday's dip in the Dow Jones which is still little changed from yesterday's lows. I only see Chevron with substantial downside potential in the 30 stocks Dow Jones, the rest seems fine to me, little changed or with upside potential. Also financial stocks seem to perform well after some losses yesterday (in particular of Visa). Mastercard (which is not a component of the Dow) reported strong earnings helping Visa and American Express to rebound from recent losses. Caterpillar and Merck are trading more than 1.5% higher in pre-market trading and also Microsoft (and Salesforce) seem to continue to benefit from expectations of further strong growth in cloud services.

Tip: Multiply your usual lot size by ~ 4 - 5 (400% - 500%) trading the Dow Jones (US30). Trade the S&P 500 (SPX500) if you have a small account balance (< $1,250).

BUY NOW (PREMIUM ONLY)/JPY

The JPY was able to win against its peers after the interest rate decision of the Bank of Japan. Investors expected a dovish stance and potentially even more stimulus measures. Neither could I get comfortable with this extremely dovish outlook before the interest rate decision, nor do I see the Bank of Japan as less dovish than could realistically have been expected in the first place. The BoJ kept kept its interest rates and asset buying plans unchanged today. The central bank also cut its projection for economic growth this fiscal year. Most importantly the central bank cut its consumer inflation forecast for the year ending in March 2022 to 0% (!) from 0.6%. This is VERY dovish and means that the central bank feels little pressure to end its ultra-loose policies, including negative interest rates. I expect the ECB later today to (PREMIUM ONLY), which will signal to investors that (PREMIUM ONLY) will start to tighten (PREMIUM ONLY) earlier than the ECB. I also expect a gradual increase in ... Gold (XAU/USD)
TP @: 1811.40
SL @: 1795.30

Gold pushed back above $1,800 exactly as we forecasted but seems to have a hard time leaving that level and rising higher. I still see gold in a good environment for further short-term gains. The important 10-y Treasury yield fell below 1.55% reducing the "cost" of holding the non-yielding precious metal. On the negative side for gold, Russia signaled again to send more gas to Europe in November - which eased energy prices, potentially improving risk sentiment in the short-term.
