What is a Workshop?
The IDEA FACTORY holds weekly workshops (which happen on Saturdays) to help people prepare to compete in our weekly PitchBattles (which happen on Sundays).
We do this for several reasons, but one of the most important is that we want to ensure high-quality and consistency. If all of the competitors follow the same format, the event (and judging) is much more fun and easier!
Three things happen at an IDEA FACTORY workshop:
1 - AMA: We answer any and all questions that participants may have regarding IDEA FACTORY, the structure of the Workshop and its relationship with PitchBattles.
2 - DISCOVERY: We take a look at what Startup Founders have already prepared to promote and describe their project, to help them adapt existing assets to our format.
3 - FINALIZATION: We "preview" Startup Founder PitchBattle presentations by affording them a practice run, or "Dress Rehearsal" for their pitches.
Our recommendation is that Startup Founders do their best to experience TWO Workshops before they attempt a PitchBattle. The first Workshop (DISCOVERY) helps us to focus them on what is expected and how to transform what they already have into what we need. The second Workshop (FINALIZATION) provides Startup Founders with a dress rehearsal so they can be at their best at their PitchBattle, which usually happens the next day.
We find that experiencing the IDEA FACTORY Workshop in this way raises the quality of Startup Founder Pitches tremendously...and the Founders who have participated this way and taken our suggestions to heart tend do to much better than Founders who do not. They win!
