A recent poll released on Wednesday has revealed that a large majority of Americans do not want the country to play a major role in the escalating Russia-Ukraine conflict.

50 percent of Americans said the country should have a minor role in the conflict, while 26 percent said the US should have no role at all.

The poll's findings reveal that while this conflict across the world may be at the forefront of politicians' minds in the coming months, economic issues like inflation are a bigger priority to American voters as the 2022 midterm elections loom closer.

Split by party affiliation, Democrats were more likely than Republicans to think the US should have a major role in the conflict, 32 to 22 percent.

The poll also reveals that Biden's approval rating in regards to the US' relationship with Russia are falling, dropping from 49 percent last June to 41 percent.

Canada’s prime minister, Justin Trudeau, has ended the use of the Emergencies Act invoked last week to deal with the Freedom Convoy trucker protest. The Canadian police have also instructed financial institutions to unfreeze accounts previously frozen. “The situation is no longer an emergency, therefore the federal government will be ending the use of the Emergencies Act … We are confident that existing laws and bylaws are sufficient,” said the prime minister.

2022-02-24 16:20:06 Putin directs dire warning to U.S. and NATO allies as Russia launches large-scale invasion of Ukraine

Russian troops launched a wide-ranging attack on Ukraine on Thursday, as President Vladimir Putin cast aside international condemnation and sanctions and warned other countries that any attempt to interfere would lead to “consequences you have never seen.”

Ukrainian border guards released footage of what they said were Russian military vehicles moving in, and big explosions were heard in the capital Kyiv, Kharkiv in the east and Odesa in the west.

As the Russian military claimed to have wiped out Ukraine’s entire air defenses in a matter of hours, Ukrainians fled some cities and European authorities declared Ukrainian air space an active conflict zone.

In a stark reminder of Russia’s nuclear power, Putin warned that “no one should have any doubts that a direct attack on our country will lead to the destruction and horrible consequences for any potential aggressor.”

CNN on Wednesday night was reporting a cavalcade of explosions near Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital. The assault came after Putin delivered a speech on Russia media announcing the operation. President Joe Biden condemned the invasion as “unprovoked and unjustified.”

Almost 2.8mn consumers filed a fraud report to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in 2021, an annual record since records began in 2001.

About 25% of the scams reported to the FTC’s Consumer Sentinel Network led to a financial loss, with a typical person losing $500, the commission revealed Tuesday.

The true toll is almost certainly higher since incidents likely weren’t reported to the agency. The figures do not include identity theft with some 1.4mn Americans also reportedly falling victim to identity fraud in 2021.

In January, the average new car in America sold for $46,404. That’s a decrease of $839 from December and the first time the average has dropped in more than a year.

“The surge in new-car prices appears to have peaked,” said Michelle Krebs, executive analyst for Cox Automotive. Cox Automotive is the parent company of Kelley Blue Book.

“While we expect vehicle supply to improve, it will continue to be tight, particularly through the first half of the year,” she said. “Because of this, we expect prices to remain high for the foreseeable future, but car shoppers can rest assured we don’t anticipate any more record highs.”

The Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) has responded to Elon Musk alleging that the agency’s “unfounded” investigation into him and Tesla was stepping on his free speech.

The SEC wrote in a letter, that the action regarding Musk requires complex treatment and therefore is taking quite some time, but “that process is nearing completion and, barring any unforeseen circumstances, the Distributions staff expects to submit the proposed plan of distribution for the Court’s approval by the end of March 2022.”

Since 2019, Musk has been in hot water with the SEC several times over dubious tweets regarding his company - it was revealed earlier this month that the agency had subpoenaed Tesla citing one such incident.
