2021-08-19 22:24:31 The Bank of Thailand has published their findings following a study that explored ways of mitigating the effects of a retail CBDC on the financial sector.
Having noted that a retail CBDC runs the risk of being customers' preferred method of payment in certain situations, as well as impacting monetary policy transmission and financial institutions, the bank highlighted the importance of several solutions.
The first was that the CBDC should be cash-like and non-interest-bearing. The second was that the CBDC should be distributed by intermediaries (e.g. banks). The third was that there should be restrictions on the conversion of the CBDC.
The Bank of Thailand will be testing out their CBDC as part of a pilot programme that involves a Foundation Track followed by an Innovation Track.

2021-08-19 10:26:59 CNMV, Spain's National Securities Market Commission, has issued warnings to 12 entities that offer crypto and financial services. According to the warnings, the entities are unregistered and thus cannot legally offer investment services to Spanish citizens.
Amongst the 12 that received warnings were crypto exchanges Huobi and Bybit.
The CNMV does not have the power to ban crypto companies, but can make an appeal to the Spanish courts to do so.

In order to launch the card, GoSats teamed up with the National Payments Corporation of India, a not-for-profit concerned with encouraging digital payments and settlement systems. The organisation is owned by the Reserve Bank of India.
The GoSats card, which is available on an app and a browser extension, enables users to earn cashback in the form of BTC when they make purchases with companies such as Amazon and Starbucks.

2021-08-17 21:28:56 A paper released by Microsoft's research department has detailed their study into the possibility of a blockchain-base incentive system being used to support anti-piracy measures.
The paper, which saw contributions from researchers at Alibaba and Carnegie Mellon University, was entitled 'Argus: A Fully Transparent Incentive System for Anti-Piracy Campaigns'. The researchers aimed to utilise the transparency of blockchain technology - in their case, Ethereum blockchain technology - to create a trustless incentive mechanism, whilst also ensuring the security of piracy reporters' data.
With the new system, pirated media could be backtraced using a watermark algorithm.
