2021-08-11 15:35:59 Venmo, a payments platform owned by Paypal, has introduced a service called 'Cash Back to Crypto'. Through this service, users with credit cards will be able to use their cashback rewards to purchase one of four digital assets available on Venmo. These assets are Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash.
The new service also incorporates free transactions for crypto purchases. Users will have the option of either making the purchases themselves, or setting them up to take place automatically.
Darrell Esch, senior VP and general manager of Venmo, highlighted the new feature as an alternative way for users to explore the world of crypto.

2021-08-10 20:57:32 CoinDCX, a crypto exchange based in Mumbai, has secured $90M in a recent Series C funding round.
The round, which was led by B Capital Group, included contributions from Jump Capital, Polychain and Coinbase Ventures.
CoinDCX now has a valuation of $1.1B, making it the first Indian crypto company to achieve unicorn status. CEO Sumit Gupta has stated that the money will be used on new initiatives, such as partnerships with fintech platforms, the creation of a Research & Development facility, and discussions with governing bodies to improve crypto regulations and education.

2021-08-10 19:10:28 AMC Entertainment, a US cinema operator, has revealed its intentions to allow customers to pay for online tickets in BTC by 2022.
Adam Aron, CEO and chairman of the company, suggested that AMC would endeavour to have the infrastructure in place to permit such payments by the end of 2021. Aron highlighted customer demand as the reason behind the manoeuvre.
Beyond crypto, AMC has plans to open several more cinemas throughout the US, Europe and the Middle East in the coming year.

The rocks were one of the first NFTs to be issued on the Ethereum blockchain. They are identical except for their colour, and only 100 of them exist.
As they are all currently owned, some are being put on NFT marketplaces at extortionate prices. Recently one rock sold for 45 ETH, and another is up for resale at a cost of $1.9B.

2021-08-09 20:55:13 Vancouver Biennale, a public art exhibition group, is set to reveal a new digital art installation on the south side of the Cambie Street Bridge, Vancouver.
The Voxel Bridge installation is blockchain based and can be experienced using AR technology on phones compatible with iOS or Android. It was designed by Jessica Angel, and is concerned with the bridge between the physical and the digital.
The artwork exists in both dimensions, with a vinyl mural physicalising the Kusama network alongside its AR and blockchain existences. Twenty animations are available to viewers, as well as being available to buy in the form of NFTs on the marketplace RMRK.

2021-08-09 19:20:44 Hashdex Asset Management, an investment firm with an emphasis on crypto, has launched a new environmentally-friendly ETF in Brazil.
The ETF, which is named BITH11, intends to purchase carbon credits in order to make itself carbon neutral. Hashdex has teamed up with Crypto Carbon Ratings Institute to help them achieve this. The German institute will provide annual reports with an estimation of the energy use and carbon emissions associated with the fund's BTC.
Currently, the ETF's plans include the investment of 0.15% per annum of its liquid assets into carbon credits and environmentally friendly technology.
