Top officials from nine Asian countries, members of the Asian Clearing Union (ACU), have gathered in Tehran for their annual meeting, where de-dollarization takes center stage.

In addition to the officials from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, Russia’s central bank governor and officials from Belarus and Afghanistan also attended the meeting.

Commenting on the role of the U.S. dollar in the world economy and a growing number of countries shifting away from using the USD in trade settlement.

Mokhber noted that over the past few decades, the “Weaponization of the dollar” has compelled countries to distance themselves from reliance on the USD in order to mitigate the potential impact of possible future sanctions.

A court spokesperson said a high court in Montenegro’s capital overturned the earlier decision and Kwon remains in jail.

This also applies to Terraform Labs’ former Chief Financial Officer Han Chong-joon.

The case was sent to the High Court in Podgorica, the country’s capital, earlier this week, after prosecutors appealed against the bail terms to release Kwon and Han for $436,000 each.

Kwon had been on the run for months after the demise of Terra, which was behind the algorithmic stablecoin TerraUSD that fell into a tailspin last year.

Kwon and Chong-joon were accused of forgery by Montenegro prosecutors last month for allegedly using false passports from Belgium and Costa Rica.

The US Internal Revenue Service will deploy experts next month to four continents to combat cybercrime, with a particular focus on tax and financial crimes that use cryptocurrency.

That is part of a pilot program the IRS announced last week where “cyber attachés” will be sent to Sydney, Bogota, Frankfurt and Singapore from June to September.

"In order to effectively combat cybercrime, we need to ensure that our foreign counterparts have access to the same tools and expertise we have here in the United States," said IRS Criminal Investigation Chief Jim Lee in a statement.

David Strager, who will go to Sydney, has overseen criminal investigations regarding crypto tax evasion, money laundering and international fraud, according to the IRS.

U.S. Bitcoin Corp. (USBTC) is looking to be one of the largest miners in the U.S. by increasing its computing power by 12.2 exahash/second (EH/s), following a deal to buy mining assets from bankrupt lender Celsius, according to a press release.

The miner is part of a consortium, named Fahrenheit, that won a bankruptcy auction for the Celsius assets, which include a lending portfolio, crypto assets and 121,800 mining machines. Once it brings all the mining rigs online, it will have total of about 270,000 mining rigs, the miner told CoinDesk. This will raise its computing power to the ranks of mining giants such as Riot Platforms (RIOT), Core Scientific (CORZ) and Marathon Digital Holdings (MARA).

Under the Celsius deal, USBTC will enter into one or more operating and services agreements to be the "exclusive operator" of the Celsius mining fleet, the miner said. On top of that, USBTC will receive a $15 million annual management fee for the mining assets, net of operating expenses, the firm added.

France has to adopt a licensing regime for crypto service providers, the head of the country’s central bank has suggested. According to the executive, the need to tighten regulatory oversight stems from the “disorder” in the industry throughout the past year.

Banque de France Governor Francois Villeroy de Galhau has urged for subjecting crypto businesses to stricter regulatory requirements. Licensing must be introduced instead of the current registration in response to the recent volatility in the sector, he insisted.

De Galhau also thinks that Paris should not hesitate but act even before the upcoming EU regulations take effect and make it obligatory for Digital Asset Service Providers (DASPs) to obtain licenses from the French government, Bloomberg reported.
