Other than that, the trading of perpetual contracts is based on an underlying Index Price. The Index Price consists of the average price of an asset, according to major spot markets and their relative trading volume.

Thus, unlike conventional futures, perpetual contracts are often traded at a price that is equal or very similar to spot markets.

However, during extreme market conditions, the mark price may deviate from the spot market price.

Still, the biggest difference between the traditional futures and perpetual contracts is the ‘settlement date’ of the former.

PEPE Coin News: Pepe, the latest meme crypto in trend has managed to bag another major crypto exchange listing. In the latest announcement, BitMEX announced that it will be listing PEPE Perpetual Swaps. It mentioned that two new perpetual listings will arrive at BitMEX on May 3, 2023.

As per BitMEX announcement, traders will be able to short or long PEPE coins via two pairs (PEPEUSD and PEPEUSDT) on the platform. It added that both pairs will hold up to 50x leverage. Earlier, Coingape reported that Huobi listed Pepe on its platform.

Sharding is a popular layer-1 scaling solution used to increase transaction throughput. The technique is a form of database partitioning that can be applied to blockchain distributed ledgers.

A network and its nodes are divided into different shards to spread the workload and improve transaction speed. Each shard manages a subset of the whole network's activity, meaning it has its own transactions, nodes, and separate blocks.

With sharding, there is no need for each node to maintain a full copy of the entire blockchain. Instead, each node reports back the work completed to the main chain to share the state of their local data, including addresses’ balance and other key metrics.
