A new study by digital asset data provider Kaiko has found that Silvergate’s decision to shut down its instant payments network will likely boost stablecoin adoption among investors in crypto trading.

Last week, Silvergate Capital announced the closure of its payments network, SEN, which crypto exchanges and investors used to move large amounts of U.S. dollars.

The decision came after the crypto-friendly bank revealed in a regulatory filing that it could soon be “less than well capitalized.”

In PoR verification, the auditor verifies the inclusion of each account’s balance using cryptography. There are a few key steps as to how this works.

Firstly, the auditor takes a snapshot of all account balances. It then converts the fund data to a Merkle tree, which is used to structure large amounts of data for more straightforward processing.

User balance data is hashed into a "leaf". A group of these "leaves" are then hashed to form a "branch", and a group of "branches" are hashed to form the "root".

Next, the auditor can use various methods to verify ownership of the user address. On Binance, for example, an auditor has three ways to identify ownership. When the extraction process for this information is run by the exchange, it is also verified by the auditors.

Initial Game Offering (IGO) is a method for blockchain gaming projects to raise capital.

Visa says it intends to continue working on its crypto strategy in light of recent reports that say otherwise, while rival Mastercard has flagged intent to focus on a more neutral area: blockchain.

An earlier report by Reuters said both payments giants would be halting cryptocurrency activities following the collapse of high-profile companies in the industry.

Visa has since denied that’s the case. Cuy Sheffield, Visa vice president and head of crypto, tweeted to claim that the Reuters report is inaccurate. 

A Visa spokesperson told Blockworks that the company would continue to monitor the cryptocurrency industry and regulatory developments.
