Litecoin is one of the older proof-of-work cryptocurrencies, using the Scrypt mining algorithm and marketed as a medium of exchange rather than a smart-contract platform. CoinMarketCap tags it with Mineable, PoW, Privacy and Medium of Exchange categories, and its website describes it simply as a coin to buy, hold, pay and learn about.
The largest Telegram presence is a community-run chat simply titled "Litecoin" (@litecoin), which carries Telegram's own verification checkmark and about 10,600 members as of 26.09.2026; it is listed among community groups rather than run by a company. A separate Russian-language community channel, "Litecoin (LTC) | Crypto News" (@litecoin_crypto), with about 6,500 subscribers, publishes general crypto-market news with occasional Litecoin-specific items.
Both channels are confirmed by manual review by the catalog's editors as genuine Litecoin community spaces. One similarly named channel turned out to publish pump-and-dump signals for unrelated coins rather than anything about Litecoin — a reminder that a matching name alone is not proof a channel is legitimate.
