Ontology

About Ontology

Ontology is a layer-1 blockchain focused on digital identity, reputation and trust for Web3, according to its own website, which calls itself the Trust Layer for Web3. CoinMarketCap tags it with Identity, Enterprise Solutions, DeFi and Web3 categories among others.

The official announcements channel, "Ontology Official Announcement" (@OntologyAnnouncements), had about 2,900 subscribers as of 26.09.2026, and its posts in recent months covered the network's eighth anniversary, a scheduled MainNet upgrade, and a brief security pause and restoration of the MainNet at the end of August 2026. A larger official English-language chat, "Ontology English" (@OntologyNetwork), had about 13,700 members. Ontology also runs official language-specific channels for Russian and Vietnamese speakers.

These channels are confirmed by manual review by the catalog's editors, and the announcements channel's connection to CoinMarketCap is reinforced by Ontology listing it there as its announcement channel. Given the network's own security notices, it is worth checking ont.io directly before acting on any wallet-related instructions found in chat.
