About Polkadot
Polkadot is a layer-1 network designed to connect multiple independent blockchains, referred to on its own website as building "products for people" without further elaboration on the homepage. CoinMarketCap lists it under a long set of investor-portfolio and blockchain-ecosystem tags reflecting its broad backing and integrations.
The official community chat (@PolkadotOfficial), listed by the project on CoinMarketCap, is titled "Polkadot Community" and had about 21,100 members as of 26.09.2026. A separate official announcements channel, "Polkadot Official Announcements" (@polkadotannouncements), with about 2,450 subscribers, has previously covered topics such as the JAM protocol upgrade discussed by co-founder Gavin Wood and the Polkadot Decoded conference.
Both channels are confirmed by manual review by the catalog's editors, and the main chat's connection to CoinMarketCap is reinforced by Polkadot listing it there. Given how many unofficial Polkadot-branded channels exist, it is worth confirming any link through polkadot.com before joining or trusting it.
