South Korean cable channel MBN has announced Avatar Singer, a new music survival program that will see 10 top-tier musicians competing behind digital avatars. Memory, Cloudy, Ian, Ran&Logi, Geumeundong, Steel, Day, Kimsoonsu, Lime and Namjafriend will compete using 3D digital avatars to conceal their identities much like the concept behind the Masked Singer series.

According to Korea Herald, Kim Ho-Young told the outlet at a press conference that due to the virtual and augmented reality technology used to produce each episode, “each episode costs more than the most expensive sedan available.” Jang Sung-kyu added, “That means that it costs more than a billion won ($750,000) per episode which is five to ten times more than a general entertainment show usually costs.”. South Korean cable network Mnet’s own musical reality show Queendom 2 aired its final episode on June 2.

Pavel Durov, the founder of encrypted messaging application Telegram, has floated the idea of a marketplace that could utilize “NFT-like smart contracts” to auction highly-sought after usernames. Durov made the suggestion after the “success” of domain name auctions by The Open Network (TON), a layer-1 blockchain originally designed by the Telegram team.

The blockchain project launched the TON DNS service, enabling users to assign human-readable names to crypto wallets, smart contracts and websites in mid-July. In a message to his personal Telegram group named Durov’s Channel on Tuesday, he noted that he was “really impressed by the success of the auction TON recently conducted for their domain/wallet names.”. Despite non-fungible tokens(NFT) Q2 trading volume dropping by 40% as interest in NFTs starts to wane, global sports brand Nike (NYSE: NKE) has found itself profiting from the digital tokens amid a crypto market winter. On Saturday, the three-day expo became a learning centre for students on Huawei’s “Seeds for the Future”, Asia’s largest tech-education programme. Thailand’s first international metaverse exhibition – co-organised by Nation Group, Blockmountain and Metaverse XR – was visited by a group of 120 outstanding students from 16 countries across the Asia-Pacific region, including 10 students from Thailand.

The students got to test out technologies of the future, participating in activities offered at 30 booths and talks by over 50 local and international experts with a sizeable tech industry audience. They also took a deep dive into the metaverse courtesy of a seminar delivered on the main stage at CentralWorld in Bangkok. During their two-hour visit, they toured all three zones of the “Thailand Metaverse Expo” – the Experience zone, Showcase zone and Workshop zone.
