Pavel Durov, the founder of encrypted messaging application Telegram, has floated the idea of a marketplace that could utilize “NFT-like smart contracts” to auction highly-sought after usernames.

Durov made the suggestion after the “success” of domain name auctions by The Open Network (TON), a layer-1 blockchain originally designed by the Telegram team. The blockchain project launched the TON DNS service, enabling users to assign human-readable names to crypto wallets, smart contracts and websites in mid-July.

“Imagine how successful Telegram with its 700 million users could be if we put reserved @ usernames, group and channel links for auction,” he said.

According to the official press release, the two will auction artist-made jewelry from September 24 to October 4, 2022. This jewelry will consist of a physical version and also a digital version that exists within the metaverse.

Some of the jewelry to be sold at this auction will include an 18k gold and emerald ring by Francine Ballard. Dubbed the ‘Ethereum Expedition’, the ring will have a digital twin NFT which will be sold as well.

“Resembling a miniature geodesic dome, the piece is inspired by the intercontinental rocket launches that typically span upwards of sixteen hours,” a press release says of the ring.

Daily revenue for GameStop’s nonfungible token (NFT) marketplace has plummeted to under $4,000, suggesting that interest in the platform has waned significantly since launching in mid-July.

According to data from DappRadar, GameStop NFT has generated roughly $166,800 worth of sales volume over the past 24 hours. With the platform charging only a 2.25% fee on NFT sales, the figure equates to just $3,753 worth of revenue during that time.

DappRadar’s limited data on GameStop appears to confirm figures actually plunged down to around $2000 as trading volume has pumped 91.23% over the past day.

Aave token holders have been asked to take part in an Aave Request for Comment (ARC) that would require them to ”commit” to Ethereum’s proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus.

The ARC, proposed on Aug. 16, comes in light of Ethereum’s upcoming transition to proof-of-stake. It calls for members to select the Ethereum mainnet running under PoS consensus as the new “canonical” governance system while also giving power to an authority to shut down any Aave deployments on any alternative Ethereum forks.

According to a Thursday blog post from the Phantom team, the new feature is accessible via the Burn Token tab in the Phantom wallet app, allowing users to receive a minuscule deposit of Solana (SOL) each time they use it:

“We’re still in the Wild West days of Web3. As the crypto ecosystem grows, so have the number of bad actors looking for ways to steal user’s funds. The rapid growth in popularity of NFTs has led to an increasingly prevalent method of attack for scammers – Spam NFTs.”

As part of the deal, WME will represent the company across the entertainment sector as it works to secure Boss Beauties intellectual licensing (IP) deals in film, Web3, gaming, events and brand partnerships.

The Boss Beauties project consists of 10,000 unique tokenized digital art portraits depicting female avatars with various career choices such as CEOs, pilots, doctors and astronauts. The collection reportedly sold out in 90 mins after launch in September.

The Australian Football League (AFL)’s first limited edition drop of nonfungible tokens (NFTs) saw huge takeup on Wednesday, selling out in just under 12 hours.

On Wednesday, the football league launched Ripper Skipper 2022 through its AFL Mint program, allowing people who joined the “allowlist” to purchase one of 3,800 packs reserved for the drop.

The packs came with a retail price of 34.39 USDC each, with the project estimated to have raised over $130,000 in USDC.
