Proof, an NFT collective, announced that it has successfully raised $50 million in a series A funding round. This round saw participation from companies like Ventures and Collab+Currency, and was also led by Andreessen Horowitz.

In a press release, Proof CEO Kevin Rose said that the company was happy to have gotten so much support and planned to continue delivering great products and services. One of these products will be Moonbirds Mythics, the third release from the Moonbirds NFT collection, which was announced along with the funding.

As the date for the Ethereum Merge approaches, nonfungible token (NFT) marketplace OpenSea has announced that it will focus on supporting only the NFTs that are on the upgraded proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain.

In an announcement on Twitter, the NFT marketplace said that while their team is not speculating on any potential forks, as it clarified that if there are forked NFTs, they will not reflect on OpenSea as the platform will only support the upgraded chain.

The NFT marketplace also highlighted that its team is preparing the NFT trading platform for any issues that may arise with the upcoming Ethereum Merge so that the transition period will be smooth.

As per an official post by the Reddit team, it was explained that the NFTs will only be given to top users with high amounts of karma. In the Reddit ecosystem, karma is a point system that users can accumulate by participating in the community by posting and engaging with others.

Essentially, Reddit is only rewarding those who have been the most active within its communities. The Reddit karma system has been in existence for years and this NFT airdrop is a way of adding practical value to a high karma score, as the post explains.

Those who are chosen will be able to choose from four collectable avatar types; Aww Friends, Drip Squad, Meme Team, and The Singularity. These NFTs are based on the Polygon blockchain and will be disbursed soon.

Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, CEO of Binance, criticized the creation of a novel “free-to-own” business model in the GameFi space on Tuesday, writing:

“If everything will be free in the world, why do we have to work so hard...”

The Binance CEO then explained that nothing is absolutely free, pointing to how the exchange can offer zero trading fees for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) pairs because of the adequate revenue generated from other trading pairs. He added that new projects that allow players to sign up for free can be high risk for early adopters.

PROOF, the private community behind the Moonbirds nonfungible token (NFT) collection, has announced it is shifting its blue-chip collection completely “in chain” — allowing images to be fully contained within the underlying smart contract.

In a community livestream named Future PROOF on Tuesday, Harri Thomas, director of products at PROOF, explained that the new approach will mean that in the future, the viewable image of a Moonbird NFT will be “constructed from the contract itself from art layers, which are going to be stored on the blockchain".

In a Monday update to a May 10 blog post, Facebook’s parent company Meta said the social media platform’s roughly 2.9 billion users would have the ability to share digital collectibles and NFTs.

The announcement followed an Aug. 4 update in which Meta said Instagram users across 100 countries could post digital collectibles minted on the Flow blockchain or from wallets supporting the Ethereum or Polygon blockchains to their accounts, estimated to be between 1 billion and 2 billion users as of the second quarter of 2022.
