2022-09-29 12:00:55 OpenSea lists NFTs from the Layer 2 scaling network Optimism

The NFT marketplace giant OpenSea has adopted support for the Layer 2 network Optimism.

This move onboards NFT projects based on Optimism, such as Apetimism, Bored Town, Motor Headz and Optichads, the firm announced on Twitter.

Adding Optimism-based NFT projects brings the number of supported blockchains on OpenSea up to six, after the company supported Arbitrum on September 20 of this year.

OpenSea’s move to add support for Optimism follows a series of other changes to the marketplace, such as integrating the NFT scarcity tool OpenRarity and automatic indexing for Solana-based NFTs.

Optimism is an Ethereum Layer 2 scaling protocol built on Ethereum. Optimism launched its governance token OP on May 31 of this year, followed by an exploit in which a hacker stole 20 million OP and sent 1 million of that to Vitalik Buterin’s wallet.

South Korea-based internet giant Naver Corp. launched its non-fungible token (NFT) platform, NOW.Drops, with LINE NEXT on Wednesday. The platform will let K-pop music fans create customized NFTs
NOW.Drops allows users to mint NFTs of their favorite musical acts that they crop out of the exclusive content on NOW., Naver’s live audio and video streaming service that features South Korean artists.

Leading NFT marketplace OpenSea has announced it will add the layer-2 Ethereum scaling solution Arbitrum.

Following successful deployment tomorrow, Arbitrum will join four existing networks on the marketplace: Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, and Klaytn.
OpenSea noted that popular NFT collections Smolverse, GMX Blueberry Club, and Diamond Pepes would be among the first uploaded onto the marketplace.

Solana-based nonfungible token (NFT) marketplace Magic Eden has fended off some community backlash following the launch of MetaShield, its new enforcement tool aimed at deterring NFT buyers who bypass creator royalties.

MetaShield, which was reportedly launched in partnership with NFT marketplace and aggregator Coral Cube saw mixed reactions from the NFT community following its launch on Sep. 12, who were split on whether NFT marketplaces should protect creator rights or cut royalty fees to make NFTs cheaper for collectors.

The NFT royalty enforcement tool is designed to allow NFT creators to flag and blur NFTs that may have been sold that managed to bypass creator royalties.
