Animoca Brands Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of video gaming and Web3 investment powerhouse Animoca Brands has raised $45 million in financing aimed a developing its Web3 business.

In a dual partnership, parent firm Animoca Brands and MUFG Bank both shelled out $22.5 million each, bringing the company’s value before public investments and external funding, or pre-money valuation to $500 million.

Animoca Brands Japan stated it will use the funds “to secure licenses for popular intellectual properties, develop internal capabilities, and promote adoption of Web3 to multiple partners.”

Overall, the company hopes to increase the value and utility of its branded content while fostering the development of the NFT ecosystem in Japan.

According to a Monday tweet from trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis, Cyrus is planning to launch digital goods such as virtual clothing, footwear, sports gear and also entertainment services.

Nonfungible token- (NFT)-friendly rap icons Eminem and Snoop Dogg will be performing at MTV’s Video Music Awards (VMAs) together on Sunday in a performance inspired by the Otherside metaverse and Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFTs.

The Otherside is a collaboration project between Yuga Labs’ BAYC and NFT investment and gaming giant Animoca Brands.

Partnering with Otherside creator Yuga Labs, the global rap icons will be giving some major mainstream exposure to Otherside by transforming the VMAs stage into its style for their latest collaborative single From the D 2 the LBC. Specific details of the performance are sparse at this stage, however.

Global confectionery giant Mars has teamed up with virtual metaverse band KINGSHIP to create limited edition boxes of M&M’s featuring content from the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC).

KINGSHIP is a group made up of three BAYC NFT hodlers and one Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) owner. As part of the deal, the avatars depicted in the nonfungible token (NFT) art will be printed on the chocolate candies in a select number of boxes.

There has been a total of 4,000 boxes created in total, split between two tiers of rarity. The regular tier comes in 3,900 brown celebratory gift boxes, while the 100 gold edition boxes are wrapped in gold and white foil, number 1 to 100 and have the Kingship member’s apes printed on the M&M’s.

The innovation plan focuses on promoting the development of metaverse-related industries and helping Beijing build a benchmark city for the digital economy.
