The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched the ‘Amazing Thailand NFTs’ new tourism experience, offering tourists Digital Art NFTs via the YAKS application at 5 landmarks with privileges to travel and explore more, from today until 14 December, 2022.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor, said “This Amazing Thailand NFTs brings our NFT products – Nature to keep, Food to explore, and Thainess to discover – into actual trips and offers new experiences in line with the ‘Visit Thailand Year 2022-2023: Amazing New Chapters’ campaign. The initiative is also part of the drive to create a ‘new tourism ecosystem’ towards a more sustainable industry.”

Iconic basketball player Scottie Pippen, who won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s, demostrated the first-ever custom-made NFTs with his image. Mr. Pippen took to Twitter yesterday, Nov. 10, 2022, to show the picture that was immortalized as a non-fungible token (NFT).

The NBA star added that he is ready to check out a new generation of promising NFT products. The token displays Mr. Pippen in a Chicago Bulls shirt with number 33: the Bulls retired his number on Dec. 8, 2005. Backed by decentralized NFT and metaverse platform Treasure DAO, Smolverse leverages Arbitrum, the largest Ethereum second-layer scaling solution, to create pioneering NFT experiences. As covered by U.Today previously, in May 2022, Smolverse created an NFT with Mario Götze, 2014 FIFA World Cup winner and "The German Messi."

The problem is that the metaverse is notoriously confusing. Though it's a tipic that's often bandied about in board meetings, many brands are struggling to understand how they can establish a legitimate presence in this (still quite vague) virtual world. The Lingang Digital Technology Library is claiming to be the world’s first metaverse library as it eyes to start operating by the end of 2022, Sixth Tone’s sister publication The Paper reported Wednesday, citing the library’s operator Xinhua Media. Even libraries are now hopping on the metaverse bandwagon.

The metaverse refers to an immersive digital world that combines virtual reality, augmented reality, and the mobile internet, though its applications are currently limited. While many Chinese companies, from real estate to virtual idols, are betting on the prospects of the emerging trend, local authorities have rolled out a series of subsidies and initiatives to attract metaverse-related businesses and talent.

Wylie Aronow and the other co-founders of Yuga Labs have suggested a method to allow Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT sales only to royalty-enforcing marketplaces. They suggest doing this through an allowlist which would check the wallet address for a BAYC transaction, as detailed in a Substack post.

Bored Ape Yacht Club has received a total of $147.6 million through NFT royalties so far — the most of any collection, according to a Galaxy Digital report. Implementing an allowlist helps Yuga Labs keep this recurring revenue while forgoing a deny list, or blocking certain wallet addresses, of NFT marketplaces that don’t uphold royalties that other NFT projects have done. If the allowlist detects a transaction request from the smart contract of an NFT marketplace that bypasses royalties.

2022-11-08 05:35:02 OpenSea NFT Creator Royalties Plan Faces Backlash While Volume Remains Low

The largest NFT marketplace, OpenSea, incorporated steps to help creators regarding fees and royalties while rival marketplaces cut creator fees or make them optional. Nonetheless, the reception was hostile. OpenSea, in a Nov. 6 tweet, finally commented on the ongoing discussion regarding creator-set royalties or fees.

To do so, OpenSea plans to implement a tool for on-chain enhancements of creators’ fees for new collections starting on Nov. 8. This would ‘balance the scales by putting more power in the creators’ hands. OpenSea won’t make any changes to existing collections (yet). It will incorporate additional community feedback (to create a long-term policy) and roll out any changes sometime after Dec. 8. But this won’t be an easy ride, as asserted by OpenSea’s co-founder and CEO Devin Finzer in the blog post.

Stephen Hess, CEO of Metaplex Studios—the creator of Solana’s NFT standard—broke the news today at Solana's Breakpoint conference in Lisbon, Portugal. “In partnership with the Render Network, we’re excited to welcome Beeple to Metaplex and Solana,” Hess announced, adding that Beeple.

Beeple is already closely involved with Render Network, having served as an advisor to the platform, which provides creators with a decentralized, peer-to-peer network that lets users tap into remote rendering power. Details of the collaboration were thin on the ground, with a further announcement to come on Monday.
