Bored Ape Yacht Club's Instagram account and Discord server were both hacked on April 25, with an unofficial "mint" link being sent out to followers. Resulting in an estimated loss of 13 NFTs valuing over $3 million.

The hacker posted a fraudulent link to a fake Bored Ape Yacht Club website. A safeTransferFrom attack asked users to connect their MetaMask to the scammer's wallet to participate in a phony Airdrop. A spokesperson said. "We are actively working to establish contact with affected users.

On April 23, highly anticipated NFT project Akustars lost $33 million in a smart contract bug. 0xInuarashi, a developer of multiple NFT projects explained Akutars' smart contract was coded so that refunds to bidders had to be processed before the team could withdraw any funds.

The contract had a condition where a minimum number of bids had to be made before it would allow for the team to withdraw, but the minimum number of bids was set to equal the amount of NFTs available for auction.

Unfortunately, due to some buyers minting multiple NFTs within the same bid, the terms of the contract mean it will never unlock, sealing away the nearly $33 million in Ethereum forever.

After the explosive rise of NFTs near the end of 2021, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) took a quick turn and fell into a slump, dropping over 50% of the sales volume from late 2021 through Jan 2022.

However, NFT seems to be regaining momentum with an almost 32% increase in the weekly volume compared to March, according to data from Nasen, a blockchain analytics firm. Whether the current rise lasts remains to be seen.
