Genies, an NFT platform, raised $150 million in its recent funding round led by Silver Lake. The collected investment will help support their NFT collection as it provides tools to create and sell characters online.

Additionally, Genies raised a $65 million round with investments from Dapper Labs, Polychain, Coinbase Ventures, Hashkey, and others in May 2021. Also, in December 2021, the platform partnered with Universal Music Group, enabling musicians to create digital versions of themselves.

As part of a promotion to celebrate the company's 100,000th vehicle, XPENG plans to sell "digital collectibles.”

XPENG's vehicle NFTs will be available for purchase through Alibaba. However, NFTs will only be available to those who test-drive an Xpeng vehicle and paying 19.9 yuan ($3.13), similar to the drive-to-earn reward system shown by another Chinese auto maker.

2022-04-15 04:40:26 Meta wants almost 50% of the creator's sales in the metaverse.

Meta plans to take a big cut up to 47.5% on all the sales of digital assets on its version of the metaverse, Horizon Worlds. The social media company announced on April 11 its plan to let some creators sell virtual assets within the worlds they build, which eventually includes NFTs.

While the biggest NFT marketplace, OpenSea takes a 2.5% cut each transaction and LooksRare charging only 2%, it leaves Meta in a position to be criticized by creators.

On April 13, Meta's spokesperson confirmed that Meta will take an overall cut of 47.5% on each transaction, including a hardware platform fee of 30% and a 17.5% fee for using Horizon Worlds.

The NFT collection will be a depiction in 3D image of a jersey found in South Sudan by Danish war photographer Jan Graup. Golden State Warriors announce their second NFT drop to commemorate the team's 2022 playoff run. The NFT collection will be the first responsive set of NFTs where the collection will adapt as the team's playoff run extends.

The collection will be 3,000 NFTs, featuring 12 unique designs randomly generated when minted on the FTX blockchain. Each NFT has its own level of rarity with special utilities and benefits.

GSW was the first sports team ever to execute an NFT drop and holds a record for all-time highest sports NFT sale at 285.111 ETH ($871.591.27).

An Iranian crypto investor Sina Estavi purchased the NFT 'Jack Dorsey's First Tweet' for $2.9 million in March 2021 and recently announced that he plans on auctioning the NFT looking for $48 million. The auction closed on April 13, and the highest bid received was 0.09 ETH ($277), and the lowest offer was 0.0019 ETH ($6), no where close to the $48 million he was asking for.

Lasy year, Estavi was arrested under the charges of "disrupting the economic system" and was recently released after nine months in prison, returning to what is left of his crypto ventures.

It was reported that Mastercard filed 15 non-fungible token (NFT) and metaverse trademark applications with the USPTO, the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The filings included plans for a virtual community with the option to interact with digital assets such as NFTs, the payment processing system in the Metaverse, an online marketplace for digital goods, virtual reality events, and more.

In addition, more patents were filed to add the Mastercard name to cultural events, concerts, sporting events, festivals, and awards shows in the Metaverse, as well as to financial education seminars and programs.

Coinbase announced on April 11, that it plans to release a film trilogy dedicated to the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection. A report indicated that the crypto exchange is celebrating and amplifying the BAYC community via the film trilogy.

Owners of any BAYC collection will be able to submit their NFTs as a form of an audition to be featured in the three-part interactive film adventure Coinbase is producing. Yuga Labs CEO, the creator behind the NFT collection said, “We’re seeing how NFTs are evolving to be vehicles of access and participation in networks, games, merchandise, and now interactive entertainment, This is a breakthrough project and we’re excited to see how this shapes the future of Web3 for all communities,”
