In an interview with Bloomberg on 23 June 2021, Binance's CEO CZ cautioned Musk that he should be more careful about his tweets on cryptocurrencies as Musk ought "to realize that his tweets do have the power to move markets" and that investors could get hurt by some of the wild swings in cryptocurrency prices.

Although CZ emphasized that Musk has the freedom to do whatever he likes, he advised the crypto community to learn to respond properly to Musk's tweets.

So, what did Musk do to trigger CZ's tongue-lashing?
Back in February, Bitcoin spiked 16% to a record high after Tesla announced it has invested USD1.5 billion in BTC and will begin accepting it as payment.

Later in May, Musk tweeted about Tesla's backtracking on its acceptance of BTC as payment which led to a plunge in the price of BTC amidst concerns about the environmental impact of its mining process.

During a virtual seminar on 15 June 2021, Bank Indonesia (BI)'s Governor Perry Warjiy announced that the central bank has banned the use of cryptocurrencies as payment instruments or other financial services tools. He also explained that to ensure conformance to this policy, the central bank will be mobilizing its field supervisors.

So, what does the future holds for Indonesia's crypto market?
Although BI has stated that it does not plan to allow the use of cryptocurrencies as payment instruments or financial tools for the next 10 years, the central bank is planning to issue its digital rupiah in the form of a CBDC. With 33% i.e. 92 million of its adult population being unbanked as of August 2019, Indonesia's crypto market certainly has a key role to play in the country's future development.

On 11 June 2021, Nischal Shetty and Sameer Hanuman Mhatre who are respectively the CEO and co-founder of WazirX - India's largest crypto exchange was issued with a Show Cause Notice (SCN) by the country's Directorate of Enforcement (ED), a national law enforcement and economic intelligence agency.

So, what was the cause of concern for the issuance of this SCN?
The ED's investigation is centered on allegations that WazirX may be in breach of its AML/CTF obligations by failing to provide the requisite paper trail in relation to transactions undertaken by a Chinese-owned illegal online betting app which has misused WazirX's exchange to launder proceeds of crime worth approximately USD7.78 million.

Similar exchange-related laundering might happen even in Indonesia though Tokocrypto has so far maintained a clean record by working closely with authorities to spearhead regulations to prevent such cases.
